JOINER Moves to Heart of Bristol’s Innovation Ecosystem

August 17, 2026

The JOINER Platform has officially settled into its new home at the Sloane Robinson Building, located within the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

While relocating a project like this is no small undertaking, the transition has been remarkably smooth thanks to the expertise of the moving and technical teams. Their planning and hard work ensured downtime was kept to an absolute minimum, allowing JOINER’s facilities and services to continue supporting the UK’s research and innovation community with minimal disruption.

Creating a Gateway

As the UK’s national experimentation platform for future networks research, development and innovation, JOINER’s new location places it at the centre of one of the country’s most exciting emerging innovation ecosystems. JOINER sits within the Bristol Innovations Zone, a key part of Bristol Innovations (BI). BI was established to grow the value and diversity of innovation from the University of Bristol through investment and collaboration with industry and government and provides a gateway between world-leading research and the organisations looking to turn ideas into real-world impact.

The vision is simple but ambitious: to connect industry with the University of Bristol’s research community, talent pool and facilities to develop solutions that address tomorrow’s challenges. It is a place where deep-tech innovation and societal impact come together, creating opportunities for collaboration across sectors and disciplines.

For JOINER, this environment is a natural fit.

New Opportunities for Collaboration

JOINER exists to accelerate the development of future digital infrastructure by providing researchers, industry partners, SMEs, government organisations and innovators with access to a unique national experimentation platform. Being located within the Bristol Innovations Zone creates even more opportunities to strengthen those connections and foster new partnerships. The move brings JOINER closer to organisations working at the forefront of technological innovation and creates additional opportunities to collaborate on the technologies that will underpin tomorrow’s digital economy. Whether supporting cutting-edge research, enabling technology development, or helping organisations test and validate new concepts, JOINER’s new location enhances its ability to bring together expertise from academia, industry and government.

Looking Ahead

The move to the Sloane Robinson Building is about much more than a change of address. It signals an exciting new phase for the project as JOINER continues to expand its collaborations and support innovation across the UK’s future networks landscape. With an exciting calendar of events planned throughout the autumn and into 2027, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with the JOINER team and explore the platform’s capabilities. We look forward to welcoming partners and new members of the community to the Sloane Robinson Building in the months ahead.
