Connecting to an AI future: JOINER @ MWC 26

February 24, 2026

We’re delighted to share details on our presence at MWC Barcelona. Innovations on show will include telecom networks as an alternative to hyperscale data centres for AI large language models (LLMs), showcasing the monitoring capabilities of the JOINER National Spectrum Facility and holographic telepresence across Europe.

“JOINER will bring the next generation of telecoms innovation to MWC,” said Prof Dimitra Simeonidou OBE, JOINER Director. “We are aggressively courting commercial partners to capitalise on the opportunities of taking these new technologies to market and will be showcasing several disruptive glimpses of the future.”

Located in Hall 7, on Stand 7B47, JOINER will be demonstrating five ground-breaking technologies:

The hyperscale replacement: LLMs in a telco network – in partnership with BT, JOINER will demonstrate a dynamic, scalable and distributed LLM inference platform that can transform telecom networks into an efficient option for next generation AI services, creating an alternative to more hyperscale data centres.

The JOINER National Spectrum Facility (JNSF) – JOINER will launch its new, continuous, measurement-driven insight for smarter spectrum sharing, lower interference, and automated dynamic management. The NSF will turn raw signals into actionable intelligence for regulators, operators, and researchers alike.

Holographic telepresence – Capturing people and objects in full 3D, transmitting them wirelessly in real time, and rendering them as ultra-realistic holograms, JOINER will offer a glimpse of the future of human communication, where distance disappears and presence becomes truly holographic.

The JOINER Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) Facility – JOINER will launch its NTN emulation platform: a powerful tool to facilitate close-to-real-life testing experiments on NTN-related topics, ranging from spectrum management, orchestration and the support of different vertical applications for airborne and spaceborne networks.

Agentic AI within JOINER – JOINER partner Madevo will showcase how Agentic AI can analyse network data 100x faster than current solutions, simplify network monitoring and management, and automate expensive workflows.

In addition, Professor Simeonidou will be part of the panel on the Cloud Fusion: Mastering Data Centres for the AI Era session, Wednesday 4th March at 11:15 on the Marconi Stage, Hall 6, as well as the Private 5G in the AI-Native Era: Smart Slicing at the Enterprise Edge session, Wednesday 4th March at 15:30 on the Johnson Stage, Hall 6.

Prof Simeonidou added: “JOINER remains committed to driving innovation in telecoms, and our presence at MWC shows that we not only continue to push what can be done in the laboratory, but that we will also shape the future-thinking. that defines the possibilities of AI in the industry.”

“MWC remains the home of innovation for the telecoms ecosystem, and as the platform driving the standards for advanced connectivity, JOINER will connect MWC to an AI-driven future.”
